iOS and Mac Dev Delight #2

By Julius — January 3, 2022

Happy new year!

We hope you made it well into the new year and had some time to relax. The holidays always provide an opportunity to reflect and re-orient.

I personally used the time to catch up at least on some topics, but I also finally finished some of the books I started reading during last year. Last but not least, the keyboard of my MacBook Pro broke. So as a reminder, Apple still has an exchange program for many MacBook Pro models that cover the cost of repair.

Besides that, it's time to slowly get back to work. We found some interesting articles and post to sweeten the process, so have a look at our weekly highlights.

Weekly Highlights

Swift for VS Code – the Swift Server Work Group released the extension on Christmas for all developers that work outside of Xcode

Swift and SwiftUI in iOS15 – How fast does Apple adopt Swift and SwiftUI?

Swift Regrets: Wrap Up – The last of a 5 part series about regrets in Swift's language design. Very insightful and a good read!

Swift Evolution – A roadmap for improving Swift performance predictability: ARC improvements and ownership control

Power, frequency, management – What makes the M1 processors so efficient

That’s it already for this week. We hope we gave you some material to enjoy, stay healthy and get those new year's resolutions going.

Have a great week!
